It's only been a couple of months since this website first went online and it feels like so much has happened since then. Wintergrass was so much fun ... catching up with friends, making new ones, and playing music the rest of the time. While at Wintergrass I heard of a bursary opportunity and applied for it.
At the beginning of March I was awarded the NimbleFinger Bursary from the awesome Victoria Bluegrass Association. Thanks to them for the opportunity to study with David Benedict for a week in beautiful Sorrento, BC. I attended NimbleFingers last year for the first time and had such a good time. So many great jams and being able to study with John Reischman for a week was unbelievable. One of my favourite memories from Wintergrass was jamming with the guys from Nomad Jones, who I had met at NimbleFingers. Good times ...
Speaking of good times, another recent highlight was getting to meet Adrian Gross and the Slocan Ramblers. They recently came to Merville and we got to open up and jam with them. Definitely check these guys out if you like good bluegrass!
I feel very fortunate to be involved in a few upcoming shows that I'd like to tell you about ...
Saturday April 13 Duncan, BC ~ I will be playing with Queue The Music at the Duncan United Church Coffeeshop at 7pm
Cross Pollination Festival ~ June 22 on Denman Island
Canada Day Celebrations in Courtenay, BC 7pm Lewis Park
I would like to thank Berklee College of Music for the partial scholarship that I was recently awarded. It helps a lot and I'm really looking forward to attending there this summer. It's still a ways off, but I can feel it coming up! I've heard Boston is a cool city and I want to explore it a bit while I'm there. I have no idea what to expect and that's exciting.
